Western Digital 320 GB Scorpio Black SATA 7200 RPM 16 MB Cache Bulk/OEM Notebook Hard Drive WD3200BEKT

I originally bought this hard drive to mainly increase the size of my original hard drive. I figured that since I was upgrading that to go ahead and get the fastest HD to MAYBE help out with the speed of apps. After installing the HD, the rendering of my videos using my video editting software was AMAZING. What used to take 3 or 4 hours now took only 30 minutes. The only problem I ran into was that the processor now could not outpace the HD any more and stayed at 100%. This caused some overheating of my processor. Once I gave my laptop another good clean out of dust this problem was solved. Still the amount of performance improvement the HD made was extrodinary.

Other reviewers have mentioned noise and vibrations being a problem. I have notice none. And even if by chance there was some of these problems I would accept it becuase of the performance improvement was so dramatic.

I understand that the size of the HD is always a little less than the actual space on the drive, but this one came in at 298GB vs the 320gb advertised. That's not cool!

Read all the reviews in amazon for this product. Browsed through other competitor's products and finally ordered this one. So far very satisfied with this product. Fits perfectly on my 2007 white macbook and perfectly works fine. I can realize the speed difference (with 7200 rpm and 16MB cache memory) and highly recommend this product to others. Only thing to watch out for is when my mac book gets overheated it automatically turns off. I believe its not the hard disk issue but it contributes to overheating. Overall I am happy with the performance of this product.

Upgraded 40 GB PS3 drive to 320 GB and faster 7200 rpm. Works nice although some games seem to freeze up more often and require system shutdown and restart. Not sure if this is drive related or not.

I bought this to replace my toshiba 360 g.b drive and Im totally satisfied, no noise problem like before, quit boot ups, cooling could be a bit better but doesnt heat significantly just minor I use a lap top fan underneath it anyway. I use this most of the day and have hardly any prob with heating. so far so good 30 days into it..
