So far, So good, only one problem
Snow Leopard installed very easy. You could probably get by with the $29 version. Only one problem found and fixed so far. After installation surfing the internet became very slow.
The fix by: Yankee Rose at [...]
-Close all applications which use an internet connection
-Open System Preferences>Security>Firewall (Not: You may have to click on lock at bottom left of window to unlock preferences)
Now click Advanced.
-Uncheck "Automatically allow signed software to receive incoming connections".
-In large white box could be several program permissions. Remove all of them.
-After all are removed, click OK to close out of the Preferences.
-Relaunch Safari. The connection speed should now be back to normal.
I was getting upset about Snow Leopard until I found this fix. Seems to work great now, but I have only had it for two days.

Excellent Upgrade, Systemwide Improvement
Great price on Amazon for this software. Newer versions of iLife and iWork are great and the Snow Leopard OS seems to have greatly improved overall performance. I upgraded from Tiger and had no problems with the install. Highly recommend. 2010-07-22

Decent Upgrade From Tiger
There is no doubt that Mac OS X 10.6 is an upgrade from OS X 10.4 (going from Tiger to Snow Leopard). The computer runs faster, loads programs faster, and starts/shuts down faster. The new features are great too.
That being said, it is a much more expensive upgrade than you may realize. I upgraded and then found out how many of my software products no longer work in the new operating system and I have spent even more money to get new versions of those (such as Parallels Desktop). Also, the new iMovie in iLife '09 is terrible and Palm devices are no longer supported for syncing with iCal or Address Book.
Overall, it is nice to have a newer system that runs faster and cleaner than the old system. It also freed up harddrive space when it was installed as it requires less than the old system I had. Although I did have to spend more to upgrade software, it is better software and newew software (such as Adobe CS5) won't run on 10.4 Tiger.

Great software/ tough install
Snow Leopard is great, although I had a hard time installing it. After a few tries I was able to do it with a little "trickery". The install would stop before it was complete over and over again. I discovered that if I hit a key on the keyboard or moved the mouse, the disc would start spinning again and it would load a little more. (It was always a different key or sometimes the mouse, so it was a little tricky). Eventually it reached a point where the install progressed normally, but I had to keep "goosing" it to get it to that point. If I didn't stay close during the early part of the install and let it pause too long, the install would stop and there was no way to get it going again. I would have to shut down the computer and start over. Customer support said it was possibly a hardware problem and I should bring it in to the apple store, but fortunately I was able to get the software to install using the above method as strange as it sounds. In the end, the software installed correctly and is working great. 2010-06-23
