A must have for all DX users!
For all DX users out there, don't read my reviews any further, just go out and grab this lens and then start shooting. But if you decide to read further, then allow me to explain why this lens is one of the best lens out there for DX. First of all, it's really cheap and affordable. And then with f1.8, you're basically set for any conditions, whether it's outdoors or in low light situation. It's light as well and you can easily carry this lens attached on the camera with ease and as for the picture quality, believe me, it's really really good. Sharp and i just love the colors. I have 3 lens with me, the 16-85mm, 20mm f/2.8 as well as this 35mm f/1.8 and i use this 35mm lens about 90% of the time. This lens is best use for portraiture as well as general shoot. But if you need to take group photos, you might need to get a wide lens or any of the kit lens out there. Overall, this is a no brainer IMHO and it's a must have for all DX users out there. Definitely bang for buck! 2010-06-13

Overall is a nice lens
I bought this lens for profilo pictures. Overall did a good job. If you want those blurry background pictures, you will like this lens. Lightweight and easy to carry. Especially if you are using D40 or D60, you want to get this lens cuz this one did have AF.
But sometimes AF is a bit slow and out of focus.

Great First Lens Purchase!
This was the first lens I bought for my Nikon D3000 and I love it! I almost never use the kit lens that came with the camera.
This lens is much lighter, so my camera doesn't feel as bulky to carry and the pictures are great. I've been able to take flash-free pictures inside when others around me are using flashes. The color and lighting is just so much better!
My one complaint (and it's a small one) is that it seems to not focus quite fast enough sometimes, but that is caused primarily by the speed of my kids I would guess.
I'd recommend this lens to anyone!

Very good for the price
This the best Wide angel lens for the money you are going to pay..it expanded my photography vision and made me see different kind of photographs while shooting.. 2010-05-30

As good as everyone else rated!
I won't describe what lot of other people already said. I would just comment on focus. With f/1.8 you are expected to focus on the object dead on. If you miss focus then your picture will be ruined. This is a no brainier but good to know for armatures. 2010-05-28
